Kurt E. Matthes, 63, West Reading, PA passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, in his home. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Ernest R. and the late Lila G. (Ritchie) Matthes.
Kurt worked most of his life holding various job titles in the steel manufacturing industry. In his front time, he enjoyed watching all different types of sports. He was a huge Boston sports fan, including: The Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics. He was a member of the West Reading Fire Co., Kenhorst Fire Co., loyal patron of Brewer’s Pub and St. Paul’s UM Church in Geigertown, PA.
Surviving Kurt is his sister: Kelly A. Rhoads; brother: Kevin L. Matthes, husband of Diane; nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at St. Paul’s UM Church, 1136 Geigertown Rd. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A Funeral Service will be held at the church at 3:00pm. Burial will be immediately after in the church cemetery.
