Betty M. (Mantz) Fritz, 96, of Temple, PA, formerly of Gibraltar, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at the Reading Hospital. Born in West Penn Twp., Schuylkill Co., PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles O. and the late Edna F. (Adams) Mantz. She was the widow of Curtis C. Fritz to which she was married 62 years.
Betty was a Warder for Bird Chapter #460 Order of the Eastern Star, a past Den Mother for Boy Scout Pack 529, graduate of Tamaqua High School in 1945, and a graduate of the Bryland Inst. of Beauty Culture in Reading, PA. She enjoyed sewing and baking, especially her acclaimed shoofly pies. She spent most of her life raising her family, and was a hairdresser. Betty was a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church of Laureldale.
Surviving Betty, are: 1 son: Christy Fritz, husband of Kathi of Temple, PA; 2 daughters: Sharon Shepard of Seattle, WA, Charlotte Fidler, widow of David of Pennside, PA; 2 brothers: Elwood Mantz of New Ringgold, PA, William Mantz of Lansdale, PA; 6 grandchildren: Lisa, Brianna, Derrick, Bradley, Cody, and Trevor; and 2 great grandchildren: Braedon and Westley.
She was predeceased by her 2 brothers: Norman and Edwin Mantz and sister: Pauline Confer.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:10AM. An Order of the Eastern Star Service will begin at 11:00AM. A viewing will take place from 9:30AM-11:00AM at the funeral home, before services. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Gibraltar, PA.
