Stanley Sunday Yoder, Jr. “Doc”

Stanley Sunday Yoder, Jr., “Doc” to his family and friends, 88, of Douglassville, Pa, husband of Gloria (Kline)Yoder, departed for that big ranch in the sky on October 25, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family.

Born on September 19, 1930, in Birdsboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Beatrice and Stanley Sunday Yoder, Sr.,

Doc was a graduate of Birdsboro High School and a Korean War Army veteran. His primary occupation for 35 years was that of a transportation manager, but his favorite job was driving teams of horses. At the young age of 12 he started driving a team of horses for his grandfather and continued his passion driving horses well into his 80’s.

Doc had many pleasures in life; among those spending time with his family and friends.  He loved horses, dogs, gardening, and buffets at Yoder’s and Shady Maple in Lancaster County.  His dream of owning a farm remained with him until his last days.

Doc is survived by his wife Gloria and their son and daughter-in law, Michael and Kathleen (James) Yoder; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Tony Salata; daughter and companion Cathy Witter and Steve Bashore; brother, John Yoder of Ft. Pierce, FL; and sister, Kay Beidelman of Bethlehem, PA, and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 17 at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Douglassville.  A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church.
