Robert “Red” L. Benner, 94, formerly of Birdsboro, PA passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Amity Place in Douglassville, PA. Born in Birdsboro, PA, he was the son of the late Chester L. Benner and the late Catharine M. (Fisher) Benner.
Bob graduated from Birdsboro High School and served in the U.S. Navy in WWII, stationed in Bethesda, MD as a Pharmacist Mate, 3rd Class. He attended the Radio Electronic Institute in Philadelphia, graduating in 1950. He owned and operated Keystone TV Shop for over 50yrs. located in Reading. Bob enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing cards, gardening, and going to the casino to play blackjack.
Surviving are son, Robert A. Benner, husband of Charlene of Exeter Twp., PA,; 4 grandchildren: Kristen, Kevin, Kyle, Rachelle; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by daughters, Susan Benner and Linda M. Houck; and sister Ruth Kalamon.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 10:30am at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A viewing will be from 9:30am-10:30am before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Birdsboro Cemetery.
