Peter Alexander Uhniat Jr.

Peter Alexander Uhniat Jr., 75, of Birdsboro, PA, passed away on February 2, 2024 after a long, valiant, and courageous fight against cancer. He was born on June 25, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA to Nellie (nee Mocharnuk) and Peter A. Uhniat, Sr.

Peter was a dedicated and accomplished individual throughout his life. He attended Abraham Lincoln High School and the Community College of Philadelphia. He later pursued higher education at The Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor of Business in Marketing/Marketing Management. He furthered his education at Penn State as a Master of Regional Planning Candidate, Urban and Regional Planning.

With an impressive career spanning several decades, Peter made significant contributions and was a pioneer and creative force in the development and marketing of cell phone technology in the telecommunications industry. He served as the Product Manager of Wireless Devices Procurement at Verizon Wireless and held the position of National Account Manager at Samsung Telecommunications America.

Beyond his professional achievements, Peter had a passion for community involvement. He was an Eagle Scout and an active member of Explorer Post #75. He served as the Treasurer for Board of Trustees; International Order of Odd Fellows, Philadelphia Home for Orphans of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. He was also the Lodge Secretary for International Order of Odd Fellows, Shillington Lodge #1175. He also served the Borough of Birdsboro as a Borough Councilman.

Peter Alexander Uhniat will be remembered for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to his community. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years Gloria; daughter Victoria, Royersford; son Adam and his wife Melissa, Reading; stepson David E. Meyer and his wife Jane, Raleigh, NC. Sister Pauline Chafin and husband Jim, Holiday, FL; Niece Brittany L. Uhniat, Nashville, TN and the many, many cousins, work colleagues, and friends.

He was preceded by his maternal grandfather Frank Mocharnuk; maternal grandmother Anna (Zeitz); his mother Nellie; his father Peter, Sr.; his brother Gregory; and his dogs Andy; Archie; and Reggie.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:45 PM, followed by an Odd Fellow’s ceremony on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Dengler Funeral Home, 144 N. Spruce Street, Birdsboro, PA. A visitation will be held at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church, 2645 E Allegheny Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19134.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Peter.
