Matthew D. Beckett, 80, of Amity Twp., Douglassville, PA passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Reading Hospital. Born in Trenton, MI, he was the son of the late Earl and Marian (Strong) Beckett. He was the loving husband of Geraldine (Bojoanowski) Beckett.
Matthew worked as a Research Tech for Dana Corp. before retiring. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was the former Fire Chief and Fire Marshall for Monarch Fire Co.
Surviving Matthew, along with his wife, Geraldine is: 1 son: Duane A. Beckett, husband of Paula; 2 daughters: Tammy Thorne, wife of Todd, April Riegel, wife of Todd; 1 sister: Karen Firos; 6 grandchildren: William Riegel, husband of Heather, Robert Christman, Daniel Thorne, Kevin Riegel, husband of Mercedes, Dylan Thorne, and Kristina Riegel; and 3 great grandchildren: Melody, Nora, and Jonah Riegel.
A funeral service will be on Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc, 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 at 11:00am. A viewing will be from 10:00am – 11:00am at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
