Lynette Ann Hess Downey, 69, of Auburn, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the Season’s Hospice in the Phoenixville Hospital. She was born on March 13, 1952, in Berks County, PA. to the late Lynwood W. Hess and Arlene S. (Hafer) Hess. Lynette was the longtime companion of Jake Bean.
Lynette’s professional career included working in management for CNA Insurance and Gage Personnel, and administration at Penske and the Pennsylvania School District. In her spare time, Lynette enjoyed crafting, gardening, music, dancing, and antiquing. She also loved to travel to Canada, the Jersey Shore, and to visit with family and friends. Lynette was a Graduate of Exeter Township High School, the Class of 1970, and a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Birdsboro, PA.
Surviving Lynette, along with her mother, Arlene are: son: LtCol Douglas D. Downey, USMC.; two son-in-laws: Jake and Justin; three daughter-in-laws: Michelle, Kristy, and Megan; one brother: Lenny Hess; one sister-in-law: Linda Hess; eight grandchildren: Cambria, Katie, Victoria, Jessica, Jake Jr., KayLynn, Logan, and Kinsley; and six great-grandchildren: Destiny, Isaiah, Jadyn, Alekzander, Zakariah, and Genevieve.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. located at 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 on Saturday, June 19, 2021, beginning with a visitation at 9:00am and the memorial service promptly at 10:00am. The inurnment service will directly follow the memorial service at Forest Hills Memorial Park located at 391 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Following the inurnment service, a luncheon will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Hall at 5 Brooke Manor, Birdsboro, Pa. 19508.
