Geraldine Rose (Sapio) Serpico, 77, of Douglassville, PA, passed away on July 7, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Emanuella (Rodolico) Sapio. Gerry moved to Douglassville, PA to co-run the family business, International Fireworks Mfg Co., where she served as Vice President, co-owner, and “Boss Lady”.
Surviving Gerry is her daughter, Jodi Adel; sister, Josephine Chunka; daughter-in-law, Marisa (Rispoli) Serpico; and seven grandchildren, Adam Adel, Elena Serpico, Chloe Adel, Mia Serpico, Tyler Lorello Hicks, Angela Serpico, and Francisco Serpico. Gerry was a wonderful aunt, cousin, and friend, and will be dearly missed by everyone who loved her. She is reunited in death with her two sons, Randy Serpico and Sean Hicks; granddaughter, Daniela Serpico; and brother, Joseph Sapio.
In addition to her biological grandchildren, she was loved and known as “Grandma Gerry” to countless in her extended family, as well as in her community, where she was actively involved – including on the School Board for Immaculate Conception Academy and long-time supporter of FOWA Animal Rescue. Apart from her dedication to International Fireworks, where she worked until the end of her life, Gerry enjoyed traveling, reading, puzzles, knitting blankets for cancer patients, and loving her rescue dogs.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, July 11th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Dengler Funeral Home, 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA. An additional viewing will be held at the church prior to the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 12th at Immaculate Conception Church, 905 Chestnut St. Douglassville, PA, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am, followed by the burial at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
