George P. Fleming, 97, formerly of Elverson, PA died on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Elmcroft of Reading in Exeter Twp. He was the son of the late George P. and Clara E. (McCord) Fleming. He was the widower of Mary A, (Bugay) Fleming.
George was employed as a pattern maker for the former Birdsboro Corp. retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Geigertown Fire Co., Hay Creek Valley Historical Assoc., and graduated from Caenarvon HS in 1938. George served in WWII in the US Navy aboard the USS Ajax and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Geigertown, PA.
George is survived by 2 daughters: Barbara A. Esterly, life partner of Richard Iskowitz of Fleetwood, PA; Susan M. Coldren, wife of Marvin of Sinking Spring, PA; 1 brother: John Fleming of Birdsboro; 3 Grandchildren: Jennifer Woodeshick, wife of Jim, Megan Scheid, wife of Jonathan, and Rebecca Johnson, wife of Aaron; 2 Step-Grandchildren: Sherry Stitzel, wife of Randy and Glenn Esterly, life partner of Michael Fontanes; 5 Great Grandchildren: Leanne, Penny, Amber, Elsa, Nicholas; 2 Step-Great Grandchildren: Ryan & Tyler; and 1 Step-Great Great Grandson: Parker.
George was predeceased by 1 sister: Vera Metzler.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s UM Church, 1136 Geigertown Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508 on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held an hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul’s UM Church Cemetery.
