Eugene (Gene) A. Hampton, 89, of Union Twp., Birdsboro, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Reading Hospital. Born in Stowe, PA, he was the son of the late George T. Hampton, Sr. and Ellen (Smith). He was the loving husband of Betty J. (Zipp) Hampton.
Gene served two years in the army working as a mechanic. He held various jobs in his life including: owning his own gas station and garage, buying and selling horse trailers, raising miniature donkeys and selling batteries, finally he started Hampton Stables where he and his daughter built a successful business. He was a life member of Good Fellowship Riding Club and was president for many years. He enjoyed traveling to horse shows with his family and going on occasional trail rides. Going to yard sales, buying and fixing things up and watching Nascar were hobbies he enjoyed.
Surviving Gene, along with his wife, Betty is his daughter: Gena (Hampton)Varnes, wife of Michael of Union Twp., PA; sister: Betty Imes of Amity Twp., PA; and a grandchild (Cole).
He was predeceased by a brother: George T. Hampton, Jr. and 2 sisters: Celia Collins and Kathleen Hess.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 at 11:00AM. A viewing will be from 9:00AM-10:30AM at the funeral home, prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reiffton, PA.
