Elwood “Woody” D. Moyer, 74, of Reading, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at home. Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of late John and Emma (Moyer) Geunes.
Woody graduated from Twin Valley HS, Class of ’66 and attended an automotive technical school in Philadelphia. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. and served our country in the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA and VFW Post 6150 and a former member of the Flying Dutchmen Ski Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, RVing, cars, and drag racing his ’55 Chevy “Dingo” at The Grove. He also loved hanging at the river with his extended family in the summer and getting into trouble with his Plow Church buddies in his younger years.
Surviving Woody, is his son: Kyle P. Moyer of Wyomissing, PA; daughter: Renée A. Moyer, significant other Michael W. Mervine of Reading, PA; 3 half-brothers: Ronald, Larry, and Barry Geunes; ex-wife: Colleen (McCoy) Oliviero; and his nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
