Elsie I. (Ziegler) Trout

Elsie I. (Ziegler) Trout, 99, formerly of Robeson Twp., PA  peacefully entered into rest on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook, PA. Born in Plowville, PA, she was the daughter of the late C. Oscar and Clara M. (Segner) Ziegler. She was the widow of Kermit E. Trout, Sr.

Elsie was a lifelong Christian and active member of Robeson Lutheran (Plow) Church in Plowville, PA. She loved the fellowship of her church friends. She was known as “mom-mom” to all, and was a loving wife and caring mother who always put her family first.  Mom-mom loved vacationing at the shore in Wildwood, NJ, with her husband, children and in later life, grandchildren and some of her great-grandchildren.  She passed on her love and skill of the card game Hasenpfeffer to all who were present in her warm and welcoming home.  She had a positive attitude and infectious laugh.  Mom-mom was especially thankful for the support and caregiving she received from her son David’s family in her later years,    She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.

Surviving Elsie are: 2 sons: Kermit E. Trout, Jr. of Overland Park, KS, Dennis J. Trout of Aiken, SC; 6 grandchildren: Rebecca E. Trout Bach of Santa Cruz, CA, Jennifer L. Powell of Union Twp., PA, Megan K. Trout of Aiken, SC, Christine M. Trout of Conyngham, PA, Kimberly T. Adams of Aiken, SC, and Elizabeth A. Trout of Mohnton, PA; and 6 great grandchildren: Caylee Steverson, Bentley Adams, Kristopher White, Ahnika Allen, Ziegler Bach, and Brian Trout.

She was predeceased by a son: David J. Trout; 8 brothers: Oscar, John, Russell, Ardell, Warren, George, Paul, and Robert Ziegler; and 3 sisters: Mabel Shirk, Mary Amoroso, and Katie Troop.

A funeral service will be held at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10:00am. A viewing will be from 9:00am-10:00am at the funeral home prior to the service on Monday morning. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reiffton, PA.
