Dorothy C. (Ashmore) Warden Gilfert, 91, formerly of Birdsboro, PA passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Keystone Villa at Douglassville. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer M. and the late Catharine H. (Edwards) Ashmore. She was the widow of Thomas E. Warden, Sr. and the late Thomas L. Gilfert.
Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for the family hotel, the former Hotel Washington in Birdsboro, PA. She then was an office worker for Boscov’s for 14yrs., retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Women’s Club of Birdsboro, service as President for both Jr. and Sr. Women’s Club, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Birdsboro, and was a member of the Mothers & Others Club at church.
Surviving Dorothy are 2 sons: Thomas E. Warden, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Mark D. Warden of Upland, CA; 3 daughters: Catharine E. Punshon of Asheville, NC, Deborah A. Wieland of Birdsboro, PA, Cheryl L. Specht of Exeter Twp., PA; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren; 4 step-sons; 2 step-daughters; and many step grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son: Terry L. Warden.
A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 10:30am at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. Inurnment will be held in Birdsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5 Brooke Manor Birdsboro, PA 19508.
