Thelma L. (Seifrit) Kantner

   Thelma L. (Seifrit) Kantner, 92, of Union Twp., Douglassville, PA passed away on Sunday May 12, 2024 at the Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Florence Mae (Foreman) Seifrit. She was the widow of her late husbands: Arthur A. Quinter Sr., William L. Brendle, and Edward L. Kantner.

Thelma was a homemaker most of her life raising and taking care of her family. She enjoyed watching TV, reading books, and word puzzles.

She is survived by her son: Arthur A. Quinter, Jr. of Reading, PA; 4 daughters: Sherry M. Slichter, wife of Ron of Lower Alsace Twp., PA, Brenda L. Huber, wife of David of Wernersville, PA; Ginger L. Ney, wife of William of Laureldale, PA, and Billie Ann Figura, wife of Chris of Myrtle Beach, SC; many grandchildten; many great grand children; and many great grand children.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Henry Aaron Schweitzer, Jr.

Henry Aaron Schweitzer, Jr., 78 of Birdsboro, PA died on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA. Born November 15, 1945 in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Henry A. Schweitzer, Sr. and the late Virginia E. (Lewis) Schweitzer. He was the husband of the late Vickie Kay (Brockerman) Schweitzer.
He had been a Union Carpenter. Henry was a life time member of VFW Post 411, American Legion #626, Union Lodge #479 F & AM and Neversink Rod & Gun Club. Henry enjoyed his trips to the Casinos.
Surviving Henry are daughter, Christine M. wife of Christopher Kortze of Elverson, PA, sons, Henry Aaron Schweitzer, III of Birdsboro, PA and Brad A. Schweitzer of Birdsboro, PA; 2 grandchildren, Caleb M. Kortze and Cody M. Kortze.
He was predeceased by brother, Ammon W. Schweitzer, sisters, Pauline F. Swavely and Virginia E. Schweitzer.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Marcia A. (Witkowski) Broskey

   Marcia A. (Witkowski) Broskey, 76 of Union Twp., Birdsboro, PA died in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. A graduate of Central Catholic H.S. (1965) and Villanova University (B.S.N. 1969) she enjoyed a career as an Operating Room Nurse, Mother and world travels with her husband of (almost) 55 years.

She is survived by her husband James and son Alex Broskey.

Her bright eyes, singular humor and enduring love and friendship will be missed by all.

Marcia was a member of Immaculate Conception B.V.M. RC Church in Union Twp.  Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremains will be scattered along with those of her husband (after he dies) to the strains of Rachmaninoff’s 18th Variation.

Philip E. Hobaugh

Philip E. Hobaugh, 25, of Robeson Twp., Birdsboro, PA went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Penn State Health St. Joseph’s after a long battle with Leukemia. Born in Medellin, Colombia, in South America, he was the son of Russell E. and Nancy A. (Fry) Hobaugh.
Philip graduated from Twin Valley High School in 2017 and attended Alvernia University for 1 year. He worked as a Water Technician for the Mt. Penn Water Authority. In his free time, he enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, and weightlifting. He also received the highest honor as an Eagle Scout.
Philip is survived by both of his parents Russell and Nancy; brother: Steven Hobaugh; Paternal Grandmother: Irene (Doverspike) Hobaugh; Aunts & Uncles: Dave and Cheryl Rich, Greg and Kathy Hobaugh, Dale and Rose Fry; and his cousins: Jon, Jenn, Jacob, Zane, Trinity, Alisia, Heather, and Alanna.
The interment will take place prior to services in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1136 Geigertown Rd. Birdsboro, PA 19508 on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 9:30AM. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00AM-11:00AM at Exeter Bible Fellowship, 926 Philadelphia Terrace Birdsboro, PA 19508 with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Living Hope Cancer Foundation, getupandlive.org and donations can be made to Hannah Keels Fund.

James Craig Hawk

James Craig Hawk, 85, of Exeter Twp. Birdsboro, PA passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 in the comfort of his home. Born in Baumstown, PA, he was the son of the late James W. and Hazel E. (Lott) Hawk.

James worked for AT&T Longlines in Reading, PA as a Communication Craftsman for 28yrs. retiring in 1990. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and the Penn National Horse Races. He was a member of the Reading Country Club and St. Paul’s UCC in Birdsboro.

James is survived by his cousin: Dora Henderson of Carlsbad, CA and many other cousins.

A Funeral Service will be on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A viewing will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM on Monday, prior to the service. Burial will be in Schwarzwald Cemetery in Exeter Twp.

George R. Spotts

George R. Spotts, 80, formerly of Birdsboro, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Manatawny Manor in Pottstown, PA. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late George and Anna K. (McCord) Spotts.

George worked as a fork lift operator for Bachman Pretzels in Reading, PA and also worked for Birdsboro Corp. and Culbro Shoe Factory in Reading. George loved World War II history, and built model cars, trucks, airplanes, etc. He enjoyed attending the Scottish Games in Delaware County.

George is survived by many of his cousins.

Sally A. (Wolfrey) Egolf

Sally A. (Wolfrey) Egolf, 68, of Robeson Twp. Birdsboro, PA passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 in the comfort of her home, surround by her loving family. Born in Phoenixville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Edna N. (Mulvaney) Wolfrey. She was the widow of Daniel R. Egolf.

Sally worked most of her life in the Sales Dept. for Chest-Mont Carpet. She loved spending time with her family, crafting, and was a great seamstress.

Sally is survived by her 2 daughters: Joan Frazier, wife of Jason, of Robeson Twp., PA and Connie Robinson, fiancé of Mike Rusden of Coatesville, PA; brother: Lawrence Wolfrey of FL; 8 grandchildren: LeAnn Corter, wife of Christopher, Jonathan and Stephanie Robinson, Trinity Rusden, and Danielle, Darren, Derrick, and Drake Frazier; and 5 great grandchildren: Noah, Mariana, and Ivy Button and Collin and Lucas Robinson.

She was predeceased by her 2 sisters: Lorene Richards and Pearl Walker.

Warren A. “Barney” Boughter

Warren A. “Barney” Boughter, 87, of Caernarvon Twp., Elverson, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Lebanon, PA, he was 1 of 15 children and the son of the late Samuel J. and Mary L. (Heddinger) Boughter. He was the widower of Shirley M. (Gassert) Boughter who died in 2022. They were married for 65 years.

Warren worked under many job titles at Grace Mines in Morgantown, PA. He also worked at Blue Ball & Dutch Lanes Bowling Alley until fully retiring. Warren enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and was a Phillies, Flyers and Eagles fan. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Warren was a member of Friendship Fire C0.- Morgantown, PA.

Warren is survived by 2 sons: Kevin Boughter of Elverson, PA and James Boughter, husband of Julie of Honey Brook, PA; 4 grandchildren: Bryanna Andrews, Bryan, Jesse, and Joel Boughter; and 7 great grandchildren: Daeden, Liliana, Beckham, Aria, Liam, Zayden, and Raylynn.

Christopher Charles James

Christopher Charles James 57 of Douglassville, Pennsylvania died on Monday, April 1, 2024, at UPENN Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Born Tuesday, February 7, 1967 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William Arthur James and the late Patricia Lucille (Natale) James.

He was self-employed as Christopher James Tree Service.

Christopher enjoyed hanging out with his dog and close friends, creating raw slab tables and riding his bike.

Surviving are sister, Kathleen M. wife of Michael Yoder of Frederick, CO., brothers, Thomas P. Husband of Donna James of Reading, PA and Michael S. James of Hamburg, PA. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Deborah, widow of William A. James, Jr. of Oley, PA.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Michael G. Steinmetz

   Michael G. “Mike”, “Mr. Mike”, “Mikey” Steinmetz, 67, of Amity Twp. Douglassville, PA passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 in the comfort of his home. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph D. and Florence L. (Seifrit) Steinmetz. He was the husband of Robin A. (Jones) Steinmetz.

Mike worked for G&M Inc. in Lower Alsace Twp., PA as a Machinist for over 40yrs. He was a member of Lower Alsace Fire Co. and Amity Fire Co. In his younger years he raced at Grandview Speedway and enjoyed NASCAR.  He was a big Flyers and Eagles fan and enjoyed spending time at the Douglassville Hotel and Talks Tavern, cooking and entertaining his friends.

Mike is survived, along with his wife, Robin, by his step-daughter: Chelsea Monn of South Mountain, PA; step-son: R.C. Monn, Jr., fiancé of Tifeni of South Mountain, PA; brother: Gerald L. Steinmetz of Lafayette, IN; niece: Krista Steinmetz (Daniel) of Lafayette, IN; and 4 grandchildren: Oakly, Brianna, Rileigh, and Hudsyn.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Abundant Life Church, 320 W. Main St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00AM.
