Paul Francis Seidel

Paul Francis Seidel, 91, of Gibraltar, Robeson Twp., Berks Co., PA, died on October 6, 2024 at Celebration Villa in Exeter Twp. He was born in Gibraltar, PA on June 4, 1933; he was the son of the late Millard E. & the late Catharine M. (Eshelman) Seidel.

A graduate of Mt. Penn High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education, as well as, Elementary Certification from what is now Kutztown University. He also received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University. Paul taught Art in the Lancaster City School District and upper elementary grades in the Twin Valley School District for a total of 33 years.

Beginning at age 5, he took piano lessons for 15 years and pipe organ lessons for an additional 3 years. He served as an organist and choir director at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gibraltar. He was a member of the church from 1947 until his death.

An avid amateur photographer from age 9, he contributed photographic work and research to the Bicentennial History of Robeson Twp. Paul was also interested in Egyptian History and Hieroglyphics.

Paul is survived by a brother: Robert E. Seidel, husband of Linda; nephew: Michael D. Neatock, husband of Debora; nieces: Michele Schaeffer, wife of Charles; Barbara Blankenbiller, wife of Bruce; and Lynne Lorah, wife of Ronald; and also a great-niece, 5 great nephews, 4 great-great nephews, and one great-great niece.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 1 brother: Charles H. Seidel and 2 sisters: Emily R. Neatock and Marie S. Eckenroth.

In accordance with Paul’s wishes, interment will be private at the convenience of the family, in St. John’s Cemetery.

Donald L. Peck

Donald L. Peck, 84, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on October 3, 2024 at the Reading Hospital. Born in Elverson, PA he was the son of the late Wesley and Helen (Anderson) Peck. He was the husband of Debra J. (Ouellette) Peck.
Donald worked as a machinist for the former Birdsboro Corp. before retirement. One of his enjoyments in retirement was camping and being in the outdoors.
Surviving Donald, along with his wife, Debra, is son: Robert Peck; 2 sisters: Nancy Gaughan, and Rose Gill; sister-in-law: Sharon Foreman; niece: Heather Sonon, wife of Jason; 5 grandchildren: Michael and Jonathan Peck and Ryan, Sean, and Aidan Sonon; and his beloved pet: Smokey.
He was predeceased by his 3 children: Donald Peck, Jr., Steven Peck, and Michelle Peck; 2 brothers: Sonny and Bill Peck; and sister Elizabeth “Betty” Peck.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00AM. A viewing will be held from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Birdsboro Cemetery.

Dorothy J. (Pritchard) Broderick

Dorothy J. (Pritchard) Broderick, 85, formerly of King of Prussia, PA passed away on September 24, 2024 at Berkshire Commons in Exeter Twp. Born in Westwood, MA she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Foley) Pritchard. She was the widow of John Joseph Broderick

Dorothy spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising, and taking care of her family. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling in many leagues and listening to music.

Surviving Dorothy, are her sons: Michael Broderick, husband of Antoinette of Limerick, PA, John Broderick of King of Prussia, PA, and Stephen Broderick, husband of Julia of Birdsboro, PA; 2 daughters: Candace LePage, widow of Robert of Wells, ME and Cheryl Marquez of West Reading, PA; brother: John Pritchard of Bedford, MA; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her 2 sisters: Marjorie Garrison and Madeline Bassett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00AM at Immaculate Conception BVM RC Church, 905 Chestnut St. Douglassville, PA 19518. A visitation will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the church, prior to the mass.

Thomas D. Goodwin

Thomas D. Goodwin, 75, of Morgantown, PA went to be with our Lord on September 22, 2024 at Ephrata Community General Hospital after battling a long illness. Born in Suffern, NY, he was the son of the late Harry J. and the late Dorothy C. (Roemer) Goodwin. He was the beloved husband of Marie L. (Hirsch) Goodwin for 44 years.

Thomas worked at NJ Bell Telephone/Verizon as a lineman. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, Harleys, Corvettes, and putzing around in his garage. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and worked as a stage hand setting up for rock ‘n roll concerts. Thomas served our country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and had been very active as a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) serving at local and state levels.

Surviving Thomas, along with his wife Marie are daughter Kelly M. Fields, wife of Douglas W., 2 brothers: Robert and James Goodwin, 2 grandchildren: Lincoln D. Fields (born on Tom’s birthday last year) and Carter D. Fields, 16 nieces and nephews, and 31 grand nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his oldest brother Harry Goodwin earlier this year.

A military service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 1:00pm at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd. Annville, PA 17003.

Bailey Tyler Kriczky

   Bailey Tyler Kriczky of Birdsboro PA, 25 died on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Reading Hospital  in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Born  May 27, 1999 in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Randall S. Kriczky, Jr. and Heather Lynn (Garner) Farrar of Douglassville, PA.

Bailey was employed by RR Games, Amity Twp., Berks Co., PA

Surviving along with his mother is his siblings – Brianna Kriczky, Boyertown, PA, Bryan Kriczky, Pittsburgh, PA, Aubree, Khloee and Ethan, Douglassville, PA, Grandparents – Randall S. Kriczky,Sr. Birdsboro, PA,  Barry and Mary “Toots” Garner, Birdsboro, PA. Girl Friend – Trysta Kinney, Birdsboro, PA.

Bailey enjoyed cooking, smoking meats and taking trips to the beach with his girlfriend.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

John D. McQuate

John D. McQuate, 82, of Exeter Twp., PA passed away on September 23, 2024 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in Ephrata, PA he was the son of the late Gordon and Marion (Hornberger) McQuate. He was the loving husband for 57 years of marriage of Donna (Reider) McQuate.

John worked as a mechanical engineer for the former STV Group, now Sanders & Thomas Group. He enjoyed reading and working with his hands. He loved woodworking and crafting with his wife, Donna. He was a man of many talents.
Surviving John, along with his wife, Donna are: son: Aaron L. McQuate of Exeter Twp., PA; 3 brothers: Patrick McQuate, husband of Trish of Havre de Grace, MD, Christopher McQuate, husband of Beth of Hiram, GA, Richard McQuate, husband of Fran of Jenkintown, PA; and sister: Rosemary McQuate, wife of Allen Steinmetz of Perkasie, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son: Seth Andrew McQuate.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s UCC, 300 W. 1st St. Birdsboro, PA 19508 on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 1:00 PM. A visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

John Banks

John Banks, 89 of Douglassville, PA died on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Keystone Villa at Douglassville, PA.

Born December 25, 1934 in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, he was the son of the late William Banks and Marion (Denmark) Banks. He was the husband of the late Adele (Fiorillo) Banks.

John served in the British Royal Army in the 1st Battalion Royal Scots Infantry Royal Regiment.

He had been employed by Mrs. Smith’s Pies, Pottstown, PA.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception BVM RC Church, Douglassville, PA.

Surviving are son, John Banks, Jr. husband of Robin of Douglassville, PA; 3 grandchildren, Daniel husband of Nicole Moody, Adam Banks and Sarah Banks

He was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Glynn and Ina Beattie.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Dengler Funeral Home, 144 N. Spruce Street, Birdsboro, PA, with the funeral service at 11:00AM.

Interment will be in Immaculate Conception R. C. Cemetery, Douglassville, PA at a later date.

Rose M. (Bascelli) White

   Rose M (Bascelli) White, Age 99, formerly of Birdsboro, died comforted by family on September 19, 2024, at the Berkshire Commons in Exeter Township.  She was the widow of George M White who passed away in 1994. Born on February 21, 1925 in Birdsboro, Rose was the daughter of the late Raphael and Agnes (Ciabattoni) Bascelli.

Rose graduated from Birdsboro High School in 1943. Previously employed as a secretary  by the Birdsboro Corporation, she later enjoyed many years as a homemaker and volunteer. Rose loved the Immaculate Conception Church community and was an active member of the Women’s Society, the Quilting Club and the bereavement group. Rose also enjoyed casino trips, card games with “the Golden Girls”, and church-sponsored vacations to Italy, Germany and Poland.  Rose was just 5 months short of 100 years!  Incredibly strong-willed, determined, Rose was faith driven, focused on family and loving to all she met.

Surviving Rose are nieces Andrea Hassler, wife of Scott and Diane Foreman, wife of Bill. There are four nephews Anthony DiGuglielmo, husband of Susan; David Bascelli, husband of Corinne; Jeffrey Bascelli, husband of Dianne and Ralph Bascelli, husband of Mary Ellen.  Stepson, Stuart White, husband of Fawn in Texas and stepdaughter, Karen Ekedahl in Indiana also survive.

Rose was predeceased by her brothers Anthony DiGuglielmo and wife Anna, Angelo Bascelli and wife Doris and nephew, Michael Bascelli, Peter Bascelli and wife Betty. Additionally predeceased are niece Annette Brennan and husband Raymond, nephew Angelo DiGuglielmo is survived by wife Ella in Alabama, stepson Gregory A White survived by wife Emily in Camp Hill.  Many great nieces and nephews plus great-great nieces and great-great nephews also survive Rose.

The family would like to thank the very caring staff in Rose’s new “home” at  the Berkshire Commons for their concern, kindness and love shown her year long residence. Rose loved all her caretakers and residents as her “family”. A special thanks also to the Grane Hospice personnel for their extraordinary, compassionate care as her life journey unfolded.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 24, in the Immaculate Conception BVMM Church at 905 Chestnut Street in Douglassville, PA 19518. Visitation is from 10 to 11 at the church, with Mass following at 11AM. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

Joanne E. (Neri) Huyett

Joanne E. (Neri) Huyett, 83, of Mohnton, Robeson Twp., PA passed away on September 12, 2024 at the Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, PA she was the daughter of the late Matteo C. and Evelyn A. (Hinnershitz) Neri. She was the widow of Arthur L. Huyett, Jr. who passed in 2018.

Joanne worked for many years as a head cashier for the original Boscov’s on N. 9th St. in Reading, PA. She also work for Vanity Fair Corp. in West Reading. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and sewing in retirement.

Surviving Joanne, is her son: Jeffrey M. Huyett, husband of Maribeth; sister: Cookie Zabodyn; 2 grandchildren: Matthew R. Huyett and Elizabeth Ballard, wife of Michael Pfugfelder; and great grandson: Gabriel.

She was predeceased by her sister: Eleanor Hunsicker.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Richard Franklin Hunsinger

Richard Franklin Hunsinger, 85 of Exeter Twp., Berks Co., PA died on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at home.
Born November 8, 1938 in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Longwell Hunsinger and the late Grace (Harbold) Hunsinger. He was the husband of Ruth Evelyn (Pike) Hunsinger.
He was a self-employed insurance broker and notary public in Spring City, PA retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Schwarzwald U.C.C., Jacksonwald, PA
Richard enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Stamp Collecting, Genealogy and spending time with family and friends at his secondary residence in Bradford County.
Surviving along with his wife is son, Brian R. husband of Beverly Hunsinger of Birdsboro, daughter-in-law, Lyn widow of Brett A. Hunsinger of Boyertown, PA; 4 grandchildren, Bridget wife of Iain Riley, Amber wife of Matt Weiler, Kristen wife of Mike Bittle and Cody husband of Olivia Hunsinger; 6 great grandchildren, Matthew, Erin, Charlotte, Colin, Carson and Rilyn.
He was predeceased by brother, Samuel J. Hunsinger, sisters, Jeanette K. Francis and Betty J. Schaeffer.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Dengler Funeral Home, 144 N. Spruce Street, Birdsboro, Pennsylvania with the Memorial service at 11:00 AM.
