Steven Imes, 64, of Greensboro, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18th, 2024 with his wife by his side.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Warren P. Imes.
He is survived by his mother, Betty J. Imes, his wife Pamela J. Imes, siblings Michael Imes (Dawn), Patrick Imes, Deline Ketcham (Jon), Suellen Pfeffer (David), and Joseph Imes, step-children Hilary Roberts (Walter), Robert McCollum III (Adriana), and Jack McCollum (Tandynn), grandchildren Michalina, Josephine, and Robert IV, nephews and nieces, and many others whom he loved and who loved him.
On September 29, 1960 in Reading, Pennsylvania Steven was born to Warren and Betty as their fifth child. He grew up in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania in a home filled with love, laughter, “dog piles”, and lots of mischief. He attended Reading Central Catholic High School, graduating in the class of 1978. During that time he developed his lifelong passion for golf, playing in the Blackwoods Youth League. He was raised working alongside his parents in their Outdoor Amusement company and eventually owned a concession company himself which allowed him to continue to work closely with his family. For many years he also worked passionately at the Birdsboro “Y” finding purpose in touching countless lives throughout the community.
Steven met the love of his life for their first date on Christmas Eve of 2013. The two fell fast in love, and were married just over a year later on April 13 2015 on a beach surrounded by their loved ones, beginning what Steven called “his greatest adventure”. Together he and Pam traveled the world far and wide, from far off destinations like Japan and Indonesia, to national parks like Yosemite and the Adirondacks. Throughout his life Steven had a strong love for seeing new places and making new friends, leaving a deep impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Across all the friends he made and the places he went, Steven always considered his wife to be his life’s greatest treasure. Of her he said “Loving you is a privilege, knowing you is a blessing, and being your husband is a dream come true.”
Steven loved without reservation. He made friends fast and cherished them. While he loved outdoor adventures – golfing, basketball, concerts and hiking – he was always happiest when he was with the people he loved. His love for the people in his life far outweighed any attachment to material possessions, and it is this love that will endure forever in our hearts. Though we mourn his loss, Steven would want us to focus on the warmth, joy, love and, most importantly, the laughter that he brought us all, preferably with a drink in hand, surrounded by family and friends.
