, 88 of Exeter Twp., Berks Co., PA, died on Feb. 26, 2021 at the Reading Hospital. He was born in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, PA to the late William Reese Wendel and Alice Margaret (Straub) Wendel. He was the husband of Joan Carol (Raudenbush) Wendel and have been married for sixty-four years.
Robert was a State Food Inspector for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – Retired 1997, he also had worked at Mrs. Smith Pies Company, Pottstown, PA. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Douglassville, PA., he served as an usher and served on the Church Council. Robert was a 1954 Graduate of Penn State where he received his B.S. Degree and was an Eagle Scout.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 626 and enjoyed Square Dancing for 40 years with Star Dusters of Berks County. During his retirement years, he enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada. He served in the United States Army, Medical Corp. from 1954-1956.
Surviving along with his wife are sons, Robert S. husband of Wendy E. Wendel of Sinking Spring, PA, James T. Wendel of Bern Twp., Berks Co., PA, Jerrold K. Wendel of Schwenksville, PA, brother: David E. Wendel of Jacksonville, FL, 6 Grandchildren: Erika, Emily, Joshua, Mathew, Charlotte, & Zackary.
He was predeceased by his brother: William J. Wendel.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The services may be viewed after 4:00 PM Mar. 5, 2021 at http://stpaulsdouglassville.com/
Interment will be family only at Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland, PA.
