Robert E. Hayden, 65, of Cumru Twp., PA passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 in his home. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Robert and Mildred M. (Cartwright) Hayden.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Machinist Mate on the No. 1 reactor on the USS Nimitz CVN-68. On Sept. 18, 1980 on board of the USS Nimitz, he sailed into the Realm of the Arctic Circle.
He worked in radiation protection at the Limerick Generating Station. Robert was a lifetime member of the Birdsboro VFW Post 411.
Surviving Robert is his son: Robert E. Hayden, II, husband of Sonia of Birdsboro, PA; daughter: Brandi L. Brennan, wife of Brian of Birdsboro, PA; step-son: Christopher Eddinger of Sinking Spring, PA; sister: Cindy Plunkett of South Lyon, MI; former wife: Patricia Hayden of Sinking Spring, PA; and 4 grandchildren: Julian, Sophie, Skyler, and Penelope; and niece: Stephanie Hayden of Spring City, PA.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers: Steve and Edward Hayden.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A visitation will be from 10:00AM – 11:00AM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reiffton, PA.
