Miriam E. (Hadley) Fletcher, 100, was called home to her Lord and Savior on January 3, 2023. She was born in Baumstown, PA on August 12, 1922, to the late Samuel and Bessie (Freyberger) Hadley. Miriam was the widow of Blaine F. Fletcher, who predeceased her in 2002.
She attended Baumstown School, and graduated from Birdsboro High School in 1940. Over the years, Miriam worked at Luden’s Candy Factory, and later, as a cook at Lorane School for Exeter Twp. School District. She also worked as a manager for Servomation Services in the cafeterias at Bell Telephone in Reading, PA, and at Rockwell Foundry in Wyomissing, PA. She retired in 1982.
Miriam was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Birdsboro, PA, and also a member of the Baumstown Sunday School. She was a member of the Baumstown Seniors and the Birdsboro Seniors where she had many friends.
Miriam was an avid reader and loved to play games, especially Parchesi and UNO. She loved going to Graham Lake, Ontario, on family vacations. She also loved traveling in her motor home, with her husband, dog, and other family members across America. She even traveled to Europe, with her son, Daniel.
Surviving Miriam are 2 sons: Daniel and Michael, and wife Barbara, all of Birdsboro. There are 3 grandchildren: Amy, Christopher, and Lauren; and 4 great grandchildren: Ryan, Ethan, Michael, and Amelia.
She was predeceased by her daughter: Dale C. Tobolski, and her siblings: George, Hazel, Dora, Gladys, Samuel Jr., and Herbert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at11:00AM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5 Brooke Manor, Birdsboro, PA 19508. A visitation will be from 10:30AM-11:00AM at the church before the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks Co. 58 Kennel Rd. Birdsboro, PA 19508 or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at the above address.
