Marcia A. (Sprague) Marks, 81, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on August 31, 2024 at the Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and the late Grace H. (Livingood) Sprague. She was the widow of Joseph L. Marks, Jr.
Marcia worked most of her life as a candy packer for Godiva Chocolates. She enjoyed going to the casinos, particularly Foxwoods where she could be found playing BINGO or the slots. Playing cards with her friends and keeping watch over her hummingbirds were other favorite pastimes. She was an avid reader and was sorely disappointed when Sue Grafton passed away and was unable to finish her Alphabet series. She was – begrudgingly – a loyal fan of the Eagles and Phillies, although only when they met her impossibly high standards of play, and more than anything she loved to see the Cowboys lose. Marcia was an excellent cook who made every gathering special and she was the soul of her family. She was a graduate of cosmetology school in 1972 and a member of Immaculate Conception BVM RCC.
Surviving Marcia is her son: Joseph M. Marks, husband of Paula; daughter: Melissa A. Marks; two grandchildren: Gabriel and Joseph Marks; and granddog: Jack.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A visitation will be from 12:00 noon – 1:00pm at the funeral home, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berks Animal Rescue League 58 Kennel Rd. Birdsboro, PA 19508 or Immaculate Conception BVM RCC, 905 Chestnut St. Douglassville, PA 19518.
