Larry R. Steinmetz

Larry R. (“Pecker”) Steinmetz, 85, passed away peacefully at Penn State St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been a patient for 3 weeks. Larry was a resident of Keystone Villa Independent Living at Douglassville and enjoyed 3 wonderful years there.
Larry was born in Birdsboro on August 13, 1936, son of the late Franklin E. and Florence S. (Wehr) Steinmetz. He waited 20 years, 11 months and 2 days to join his beloved wife, Shirley M. (Kramer) Steinmetz, in Heaven, a woman so special that he married her twice!
Larry is survived by his daughter, Kathy L. Graul, wife of Kevin, of Exeter Township. He was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy (Steinmetz) Rinker in 2012 and Gloria Steinmetz in 1943. He also leaves behind three generations of nieces and nephews who all loved “Uncle Larry” to the fullest.
Larry was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving at Ft. Story, VA from 1953-1956. He was employed by Reading Tube (now Cambridge-Lee Industries), Prestolite Battery, and for 30 years at Arrowhead Golf Course, retiring from the golf course at age 80.
Dengler Funeral Home 144 N. Spruce St. in Birdsboro, PA is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, June 10th from 5pm to 7pm, and a memorial service will be held immediately following. Interment will be private.
