Kenneth Allen Sutton

Kenneth Allen Sutton, “A Gentleman’s Gentleman,” 89, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on the evening of Wednesday, July 21, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Born in Wharton, NJ, he was the son of the late Wallace and Elizabeth (Stark) Sutton. He was the beloved husband of Marianne R. (Romaine) Sutton, they recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on January 29, 2021.

Ken’s love for family was forever present in his heart. He was always available to meet the needs of others. He was a gentleman in the highest regard and was considered a father figure by so many.

As a young man, Kenny and his brother owned and operated Sutton’s Tavern in their hometown of Wharton, NJ. He was employed by Colorado Fuel and Iron Corp., New Jersey. This led to a transfer to their Birdsboro operations, later taking a position with Birdsboro Steel Corp. as a purchasing agent and then moving onto employment with General Battery Corp., Reading, PA. Retiring from Amerace Corporation, Johnson City, TN.

He received his Associate’s Degree from Ursinus College. He was a former Birdsboro Councilman for many years and very active in the Republican Party Committees on local, state, and national levels. He was a Republican Committeman for the first precinct of Birdsboro and a former Board Director for the Daniel Boone Foundation. He was a Birdsboro Jaycee and a member of the Immaculate Conception BVM RC Church.

He enjoyed tinkering with antique cars, took great pleasure in his home’s restoration and yardwork. He loved spending family time at their Delaware shore home. Ken was playfully devoted to his grandchildren, engaging many an hour of joke telling, children’s card games, and serious checker board matches.

Surviving Kenneth, along with his wife, Marianne are: 4 daughters: Stephanie A. Phillips, widow of Timothy M. of Mertztown, PA, Adrianne R. Wanner, wife of Peter R. of Douglassville, PA, Kendra E. Wickizer, fiancé of David M. Lacey of Exeter Twp., PA, and Rebecca M. Zgunda, wife of Grant M. of Springport, IN; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by 1 sister and 2 brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception BVM RC Church, 905 Chestnut St. Douglassville, PA 19518. A visitation will be held prior to mass on Saturday from 9:00am – 10:45am at the church. The burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
