Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Geraldine (Tschudy) Raetsch of Pennside passed away on January 8, 2022 at the age of 79. She was the wife of Peter A. Raetsch with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in October of this year. Born at home in Birdsboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Tschudy and Lottie (Swierczewski) Tschudy.
Geraldine was a graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, and throughout her career held positions at the Reading Hospital, National Institutes of Health, and the Caron Foundation, before retiring from the Valley Forge Medical Center in 2005.
As a former board member of the Berks County Learning Disabilities Association and former advocacy chairperson for the Pennsylvania Learning Disabilities Association, she was devoted to improving the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through access to services. She was a member of Pennside Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband Peter, Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Amanda, of Pennside, son, Michael, his wife Kate, and granddaughter Lila of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Additionally, a brother John Tschudy of Birdsboro, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Henry Tschudy.
