Constance J. (Pajak) Solomon

Constance J. (Pajak) Solomon, 86, of Douglassville, Amity Twp., PA passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Reading Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Josephine Pajak. She was the widow of Howard Bernard Solomon who passed on August 23, 2023.

Constance worked most of her life running the family business, A&B Suburban Locksmith in Delaware Co., with her husband, Bernard. Her puppies gave her the most joy in life.

Surviving Constance are: 2 daughters: Judy L. Solomon and Susan E. Solomon.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Helen V. (Sheetz) Vroman

Helen V. (Sheetz) Vroman, 89, of West Reading, PA passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 in the comfort of her and her grandson’s, Edward R. Heller’s home. Born in Monocacy Station, Berks Co., PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. and Virginia M. (Slider) Sheetz. She was the widow of James M. Vroman.
Helen worked as a General Laborer for Gudebrod in Stowe, PA. Helen enjoyed crocheting, coloring, music, and dancing in her younger years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving Helen are: 2 sons: James A. “Skip” Vroman, husband of Beverly of Wyomissing, PA, Ronald K. Vroman of Reading, PA; 2 daughters: Cheryl L. Lutz, wife of Carl of Mohnton, PA and Gina L. Hampton, widow of Brian of Birdsboro, PA; 1 sister: Ruth M. Davis, widow of James of Douglassville, PA; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son: Elvis Vroman; brother: Edward E. Sheetz; and 2 sisters: Virginia Goetz and Marguerite Miller.
A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, December 28, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Pottstown, PA.

Timothy Whalen (1952 – 2023)

 

Timothy Whalen, beloved husband, father and pop pop, passed peacefully on December 19th at Reading Hospital.
Tim was the son of John R. and Sarah “Sis” (Myers) Whalen.
Originally from Birdsboro, PA, Tim was a graduate of Daniel Boone High School (Class of ’71). He was employed by Diamond/Anchor Glass for approximately 40 years before retiring to spend the rest of his days with the love of his life, Deborah (Kline) Whalen.
Tim was an avid reader and took pride in his extensive collection of hardbound books, which he would often read two to three times over. In his retirement, Tim enjoyed his daily ritual of reading the newspaper, doing the daily crossword and sipping coffee while sitting beside his wife of 43 years.
In addition to his parents, Tim was predeceased by his brother and sister in law John A. (Vera) Whalen.
Surviving along with his wife, are his daughters Megan (Whalen) Tomasco, Dawn (Kulp) Shannon, Becky (Kulp) Bogina, grandchildren Brody, Connor, Kerrick, Casey, Caitlyn, Sarah, Brian and Alison.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce Street, Birdsboro, PA 19508. A visitation will be from 10:00am-11:00AM at the funeral home before the service.

Brian Edward Deeds

Brian Edward Deeds, 38, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Brian was born in West Reading, PA, he was the son of Charles H. Ehrgood and Charlene Deeds. He was raised by Donna M. Johnson.

He had been employed by Morgan Corp.

He is survived by Donna M. Johnson, 3 sons Jace and Trevin Deeds, their mother Shanelle Boyd, Kane Deeds, his mother Jade Bono, girlfriend, Siolhan Holms, brothers Kenrick Lord and Michael Schearer, sisters Jennifer Gonzalez, Penny Lord, Amanda Schearer, Taylor Schearer, nephews Brody, Gunnar and Austin.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Louise A. (Harting) Olmstead

Louise A. (Harting) Olmstead, 80, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 in the comfort of her home. Born in West Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry V. and Ethel (Hain) Harting. She was the widow of her 1st husband, Charles W. Angstadt, Jr. and her 2nd husband, L. James Olmstead.

Louise was a graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She worked as an RN for Reading Hospital and retired from St. Joseph’s Medical Center. She was a member of St. Paul’s UCC in Amityville, PA, where she was very active. She enjoyed cross stitching and traveling to her home in Florida, she was also an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.

Surviving Louise are 3 sons: David C. Angstadt, husband of Lisa Walsh, Steven J. Olmstead, husband of Denise, John M. Olmstead, husband of Karlene; 2 daughters: Jean L. Angstadt and Cheryl A. Shelton, wife of Delmar; brother: David V. Harting; sister: Kathy Selitto; daughter-in-law: Dianna Angstadt; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son: Gregory A. Angstadt.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s UCC, 1979 Weavertown Rd. Douglassville, PA 19518. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the church before the service. Inurnment will be following the services in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reiffton, PA.

Fannie (Medori) Hunter

Fannie (Medori) Hunter, 93, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in the comfort of her daughter’s home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Camillo and Mary (Pettrocini) Medori. She was the widow of her 1st husband, Howard Laird and her 2nd husband, James Hunter.

Fannie worked most of her life up until she was 80 years old as a Manager in the Deli Dept. for A&P Warehouse and PathMart in Philadelphia, PA. Fannie loved casinos and was a very family oriented woman. She was a member of Immaculate Conception BVM RC Church in Douglassville, PA.

Surviving Fannie are 1 son: Michael A. Laird of Prospect Park, PA; 3 daughters: Harriet A. Hopta, wife of Francis of Birdsboro, PA, Karen M. Dougherty, wife of Joseph of Glenolden, PA, Joanne E. Iannotti, wife of Anthony of Folcroft, PA; sister: Margaret Sage, wife of Charles of Villas, NJ; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son: Joseph Laird, and 5 brothers and 6 sisters.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Steve E. Fern, Jr.

   Steve E. Fern, Jr., 66 of Seyfert, Robeson Twp., PA passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Steve and Doris (Syracuse) Fern. He was the loving husband of Emma Jean (Tobin) Fern.

Steve worked as a Supervisor in the food service industry for many years. He was a local musician who played in many bands for 40+ years.

Surviving Steve, along with his wife Jean, are : 2 sons: Collin and Cory Fern; brother: Jerry Wall; and step-sister: Jackie Favinger; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are at the convenience of the family.

Lawrence H. Urban, Jr.

Lawrence H. Urban, Jr., 65, of Birdsboro, Amity Twp., PA passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Larry was born and raised in Pottstown, PA. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Matuszewski) Urban; his son: Donald G. Urban, husband of Cristina; 2 grandchildren: Max and Noah Urban; and 2 sisters: Patricia Ellis and Barbara Mancill.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence H. Urban, Sr. and Kathryn (Miller), and 2 sisters: Kathryn Houston and Pearl Goodwin.

Larry was an entrepreneur at heart and was the owner of L&J Auto Sales in Amity Twp. for over 40 years. He was extremely generous and always willing to help anyone in need. Larry was his happiest on his boat cruising on the Chesapeake Bay. He also loved animals, especially his birds, Charlie, Echo, and Sydney. But nothing brought Larry more joy than spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, Max and Noah.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A viewing will be held on Friday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Elizabeth J. (Marsteller) High

  Elizabeth J. (Marsteller) High, 91 of Douglassville, Amity Twp., PA passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at the Lutheran Home at Topton. Born in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late Edwin M. and Adaline R. (Smith) Marsteller. She was the widow of Russell H. High.

Betty was employed as a Clerk for Boscov’s and Boyer’s Store in Amityville, PA. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Douglassville, PA and was a member of the choir and served on the Greens Committee for their Annual Christmas Bazaar. Betty was an avid reader, and enjoyed mahjongg, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and many kinds of needlework.

Surviving Betty: 2 daughters: Robin A. Rohrbach, wife of Ralph of Douglassville, PA and Rebecca J. Berkel, wife of David of Fleetwood, PA; 5 grandchildren: John, Alex, and Peter High, and Wesley and Lauren Berkel; and 5 great grandchildren: John, Colin, and Quinn High and Willow and Jameson Berkel.

She was predeceased by her son: Russell H. High, Jr. and 4 sisters: Florence Smiley, Catherine Cross, Joyce Gredjus, and Joanne Ferreri.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Rd. Douglassville, PA 19518. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the church, prior to the service.

Allen Joseph Honigfeld

Allen Joseph Honigfeld, 69 of Douglassville, Pennsylvania died on Monday, December 4, 2023, in Amity Twp., Berks Co., PA. Born May 11, 1954 in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Milford Louis Honigfeld and the late Dorothy Shirley (Rubinstein) Honigfeld.
He was employed by IQVIA, Blue Bell, PA. Allen enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to his favorite CD albums and cooking for his family.
Surviving are son, Ryan Allen Honigfeld of Birdsboro, PA, daughter, Jenna Lynn Honigfeld at home, former wife, Karen Honigfeld, sisters, Nancy Pavon of Clifton, NJ and Gayle Minnick of NJ.
He was predeceased by sister, Beverly Platel.
Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
