Eileen R. (Schiavoni) Rhoads

EILEEN R. RHOADS

Birthdate:  May 24, 1947

Death:  January 13, 2022 Passed from covid

Married to Ronald Rhoads on December 31, 1981

Eileen was born and raised in Mayfair, Pennsylvania.  Her husband, Ronald Rhoads preceded her in death.  She is survived by her only brother, Allen A. Schiavoni, one niece, Gina Marie Schiavoni, and one nephew, Allen Schiavoni, Jr.  She also has one brother in law, Billy Rhoads, and one sister in law, Bonnie Schiavoni.

She attended Penn State University and graduated in 1969.  Eileen started her career as a teacher in the Philadelphia School District in the Strawberry Mansion area.  She was dedicated to giving every child the best education possible.  While teaching, Eileen was a strong advocate for “Women’s and Teacher’s Rights,’ and with strong convictions joined the movement.

During teaching, she started a hobby of collecting and purchasing antiques and dolls.  She met Ron, her husband, during this activity, and together they formed not only a lasting love for over 40 years, but also a partnership for business in the antique and auction world in 1982.  Her business was enhanced with a wonderful spirit, dedication, and friendship from Shane. Eileen became world re-nowned for her expertise and was the “queen of minatures and doll collections.”  Eileen was one of the first esteem female auctioneer in the area.

Eileen had a heart for people.  She always placed her family and friends above herself. Eileen was a special caretaker aunt to Gina and Allen during their formative years.  Eileen, above all…a soul to be emulated…She was not only generous, she had an enormous, playful, compassionate heart full of joy for all of her endeavors.  She was adventurous.  In 1970 she actually “hitch-hiked” with her girlfriend all through Europe-from Whales to Ireland.  They would stand on the side of the road with their thumbs out, and go wherever the “wind took them.”

During Eileen’s struggles with covid, Ginamarie Petrasso should be commended for her ministering to my sister. Eileen’s passing caused our world to suffer an unimaginable loss, but God has gained an EXTRAORDINARY angel.  Funeral services will not be held at this time.  Our expectation is some time in the spring.
