Thomas Francis Kirchner

Thomas Francis Kirchner, 85 of Amity Twp., Berks Co., PA died unexpectedly on November 9, 2017, at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center, W. Reading, PA

Born September 17, 1932 in Lancaster Co., PA, he was the son of the late Othmar Charles Kirchner and Elizabeth (Brophy) Kirchner.

Thomas was the husband of Charlotte L. (Keller) Kirchner. They were married for 60 years.

Thomas was employed for 40 years by UGI Corp., Reading, PA, and occupied several engineering and management positions before retiring in 1996. He graduated from the Lancaster Catholic High School class of 1950. He received his B.A. in Management from Franklin and Marshall College and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute both awarded in 1956. He was a brother of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. Thomas served 6 years on Daniel Boone School Board of Directors, 12 years on Amity Twp. Board of Supervisors, and was a 45 year member of the Daniel Boone Optimist Club and past President.

Thomas served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1960, where he earned the rank as Captain and was a Navigator in the Strategic Air Command.

Thomas was a member of Immaculate Conception RC Church, located in Birdsboro, PA.

Surviving along with his wife are 2 daughters; Christina M. wife of Joseph O’Donnell of Cherry Hill, NJ, Constance L. wife of David Smith of Exeter Twp., PA, 2 sisters; Helen Bitts of Lancaster, PA, Mary Ann Welsh of Lancaster, PA, and 4 grandchildren; Alexandra Madden, Christopher Madden, Kieran O’Donnell, and Colin O’Donnell.

He was predeceased by 3 brothers: Othmar, James, and Michael and 1 sister: Margaret Kilheffer.

A viewing will be held at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc, 144 North Spruce St., Birdsboro, PA on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and at Immaculate Conception RC Church 905 Chestnut St., Douglassville, (Union Twp.) PA on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM
