Ruth E. (Fix) Maurer Zook, 85, of Crestwood, Exeter Twp., PA, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Berkshire Center. Born in Gibraltar, Robeson Twp., PA, she was the daughter of the late William Q. and Annie V. (Garman) Fix. She was the widow of Melvin Maurer and Donald Zook, Sr.
Ruth was CFO of Vanscoy, Maurer, & Bash in Lancaster, PA, retiring in 2010.
Ruth was a Philadelphia Sports aficionado, from basketball showdowns at the Palestra, to the 2018 Super Bowl Champion Eagles, Ruth loved all sports. From Bob Boone to Coach K, the legends of sports gave Ruth a passion for victory that was unparalleled by most. She was also an avid coin collector, most of her life.
Surviving Ruth are 2 sons: Mark A., husband of Patricia Maurer of Lancaster, PA and Donald A. husband of Anastasia Zook of Bethel, PA; and 3 daughters: Carol L. Maurer Helms, wife of Steven of Pennside, PA, Joy Y. Bortz of Seyfert, PA, and Robin M. Stump of Reiffton, PA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was predeceased by 4 brothers: Herbert “Hob”, Robert, William, George “Smokey” Fix.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A viewing will be held before the service at the funeral home from 1:05pm-2:00pm on Thursday.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Gibraltar, PA.
