Lawrence (Larry) J. Genovese, 90, formerly of South Philly, passed away on April 22, 2017 peacefully at his home in Douglassville, PA surrounded by his family who he loved.
Born on June 27, 1926, in Philadelphia, he was a loyal son of the late John A. and Elena (D’Eramo) Genovese.
Larry worked for decades as a Photoengraver for the former Beck Engraving Company in Philadelphia. He was a member of Immaculate Conception RC Church, and was very proud of his Roman Catholic faith. Coming from a classical music family, Larry loved his music and the simple things in life, such as, crabbing and fishing, and sitting on the porch, watching the sun set at his summer home in North Wildwood, NJ.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Elaine (Dalesio) of 64 yrs., and a beloved father to his 6 children: Maria Shaner, Angela McColgan wife of Michael, Gregory Genovese, Lorenz Genovese, husband of Cheryl, Regina Genovese, and Monica Genovese. Larry was the oldest of 9 children, survived by 2 brothers: Edward and Arthur Genovese and sister: Mary Ann Genovese. He was a grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Larry was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Immaculate Conception RC Church, 905 Chestnut St., Douglassville, PA 19518. A viewing will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM. Interment will be held in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
