Laura Mae (Kurtz) Babb

Laura Mae (Kurtz) Babb, 94, formerly of Birdsboro, passed away at Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge, NJ on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

Born in Elverson PA on February 1, 1924 to the late Clyde L. Kurtz and Myrtle (Ames) Kurtz.

She attended McCann’s School of Business and worked for Jacobs Aircraft in Pottstown. Later, she attended Bryland School of Beauty opening her first Beauty Shop in Birdsboro in 1945 which she continued to operate through the 1980’s.

Laura Mae was married to the late George A. Babb for 54 years.

George and Laura Mae owned and operated the Old Mill Inn in Gibraltar for 30 years.

Laura Mae enjoyed painting, gardening and traveling. She loved the Jersey Shore and the West Coast of Florida, sitting on the beach with a smile on her face.

She is survived by her sister Nancy (Kurtz) March, brother in-law & sister in-law Robert and Marion Babb, niece Joelyn Stefani and husband Gene, nephew Scott March and wife Michelle and great nephews Tyler and Parker March, nephew Richard Babb and wife Lynette, niece Cynthia Icenhour and husband Steven and dear friend Marguarite Westley.

Laura Mae is predeceased by her sister Virginia (Kurtz) Deleo, brother in law Edmund Deleo, brother Harold L Kurtz, brother in-law Theodore March and nephew Bruce March. Also, her lifelong dear friend James Mengel.

Heartfelt thanks go out to her caregivers at Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge NJ.

Funeral Service will be held at Dengler Funeral Home Inc., 144 N Spruce St, Birdsboro on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00AM. Visitation from 10:00AM – 11:00AM. Interment in Mount Zion Cemetery, Pottstown.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508.
