Herbert J. McCarty, 87 of Robeson Twp., Berks Co., PA passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center in West Reading, PA. Born November 18, 1929 in Robeson Twp., Berks Co., PA, he was the son of the late John R. McCarty and Leah A. (Deeds) McCarty. He was the husband of Mary L. (Guldin) McCarty.
Herbert was employed as an Industrial Mechanic for former Crompton & Knowles, Robeson Twp., PA. He was also a life member of VFW, Post 411, life member of American Legion Post 626, and a life member of Gibraltar Fire Company. Herbert was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving along with his wife 1 son; Michael J. husband of Mary P. McCarty of Robeson Twp., PA, 1 daughter; Sueann L. wife of Scott Eppler of Lower Alsace Twp., PA, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by 7 siblings.
A viewing will be held at Dengler Funeral Home, Inc., 144 North Spruce Street, Birdsboro, PA on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:30AM. Followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Gibraltar PA.
