G. Charles “Chick” Carey, 87, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Amity Twp., Berks Co., PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Bethesda Hospital East. Born in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Granville M. and Alverna (Brown) Carey. He was the widower of his beloved Helen Anne (Bartholomew) Carey.
Chick was employed in maintenance for 25 yrs. at the former Firestone Tire & Rubber in Pottstown, PA. He then worked outside maintenance at Penn State-Berks Campus for 12 yrs., retiring in 1993.
He was a member of St. Paul’s UCC in Amityville where he was instrumental in the renovation of the chapel and an integral part of the religious community.
Surviving Chick are a daughter, Bonnie C. Kosmerl, wife of Edward J. Kosmerl, Jr., of Palm Beach, Florida and a son, Richard C. Carey, husband of Stacy Carey, of Reiffton, PA; a granddaughter, Dr. Kristin M. Kosmerl of Palm Beach, FL, and a sister: Verna Reigle wife of Herbert Reigle, Exeter Twp., PA.
Charles was predeceased by a sister, Norma F. Wright.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Paul’s UCC, 1312 Old Swede Rd. Douglassville, PA 19518 at 11:00AM. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM before the service at the church.
Interment will be held in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
