Frank R. “Tanker” Sowers, 83, of Union Twp. Berks Co., PA passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at ManorCare Laureldale. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruth (Beck) Sowers. He was the widower of Grace V. (Vogt) Sowers.
Frank was employed as a laborer at Mrs. Smith’s Pies in Pottstown, PA for 30 yrs. and also worked at Buddie’s Nursery in Birdsboro for 20 yrs. Frank was a member of Monarch Fire Co. and a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Birdsboro, PA.
Surviving are 2 sons: Frank J. Sowers of Fleetwood, PA, and Robert C. Sowers of Birdsboro, PA; 1 sister: Ruth Ann Killian of Birdsboro, PA. He is survived by 5 grandchildren: Jennifer, Ryan, Keith, Bobby, and Billy.
He was predeceased by 1 son: Kevin Sowers; 2 brothers: Paul B. “Puss” Sowers, Charles F. “Tata” Sowers; and 2 sisters: Jane Reiter and June Burke.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A viewing will be held an hour before the service at the funeral home from 12:00pm – 1:00pm.
Interment will be held in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton, PA.
