, 79, of Exeter Twp., Berks Co., PA passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the comfort of his home. He was the son of the late Gerald and Edna (Schmidt) Furlong. He was the husband of Carole M. (Wiedler) Furlong.
Edward was employed as a Police Officer for the city of Philadelphia. In his time in Law Enforcement, he was a member of the SWAT Team, Special Detail, and was a firearms instructor. Edward was a big Philly sports fan, loved Notre Dame football, enjoyed watching the Investigation Discovery Channel, and going to casinos.
Surviving Edward, along with his wife, Carole, are: 2 sons: Robert P. Miller, husband of Theresa of Birdsboro, PA, Michael S. Furlong, husband of Kira of Hamburg, PA; 2 daughters: Carole Lynn Hilbert of Bally, PA, Lauri Furlong, wife of Joe White of Philadelphia, PA; and 9 grandchildren: Michael, Jacob, RJ, Molly, Laura, Owen, Mason, Alex, and Payetin.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. The funeral service will follow the viewing at 4:00pm on Wednesday.
