Donna R. (Mearkle) Gates, 68, of Birdsboro, PA passed away on November 13, 2017 at the Berkshire Center. She was born in Reading, PA to the late Donald E. and Fay Louise (McCord) Mearkle. She was the widow of Donald Gates.
Donna worked as a sewer for the former Oritski’s in Reading, PA and the former Bird Knit in Birdsboro, PA. She also was employed at the Green Hills Health Center and operated a daycare center in her home for many years.
Surviving Donna are 2 sons: Jeremy Gates, husband of Elizabeth of Shillington, PA; and Chad Gates, husband of Beth of Winder, GA; 1 daughter: Angela Perry, widow of Roy of Frackville, PA; 1 brother: Donald Mearkle, Jr. of Douglassville, PA; 3 sisters: Kathryn Casner of Birdsboro, PA; Lorene Mountz of Douglassville, PA; and Shelly Krall of Birdsboro, PA. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by 1 brother: Glen Mearkle.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc., 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held at the funeral home, an hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Birdsboro Cemetery.
