Donald Harry Cowdrick, 81 of Cumru Twp., Berks County, PA died on Monday, June 19, 2017, at his home.
Born November 17, 1935 in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Harry John Cowdrick and Annie (Rhoads) Cowdrick. He was the husband of Joan Sue (Arnold) Cowdrick.
He was a 1953 graduate of Reading High School and a 1985 graduate of the Reading Police Academy.
Donald had been employed by the former Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., Pottstown, PA and then served as a Police Officer for by Brecknock Twp., Berks County – Police Dept.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Union Lodge #479 F. & AM, Rajah Shrine and the Fraternal Oder of Police. Donald also served in the US Air Force, Air National Guard 148th Fighter Squadron. He had an interest in WWII and Military History, and was known as a very patient man.
Surviving along with his wife are 1 son, Darrin J. husband of Susan Cowdrick of West Chester, PA, 1 daughter, Sue E. wife of Kevin McMahon of Orefield, PA; 6 grandchildren, Sean M. Cowdrick, Kelly S. McMahon, Colleen M. McMahon, Kathleen E. McMahon, Kyle B. Cowdrick, Ryan H. Cowdrick.
A Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 57 St. John’s Road, Gibraltar, PA.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Gibraltar at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday at the Church.
