Betty Louise (Keim) Geiger

Betty Louise (Keim) Geiger, 87 of Geigertown, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center in Narvon, PA. Born March 6, 1930 in Sanatoga, PA, she was the daughter of the late James W. and the late Saria M. (Schurr) Keim. She was the widow of Robert W. Geiger Sr.

In her teens Betty worked at The Sunnybrook Ballroom as a hat check girl and met all the Stars of the big band era. Later she worked for 25 years at Twin Valley High School as a baker; retiring in 1993. Her Ranger Joe cookies are still world famous. She also worked tirelessly making a home for four children and a husband she loved dearly.

Betty was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Geigertown. In addition, she was a member of Friendship Fire Company, Geigertown; and a founding member of The Hay Creek Valley Historical Association where she could be found making or selling shoo fly pie! Betty loved food, family, and friends, and she also loved to mow her lawn spending many, many hours making her yard look fantastic.

Surviving are 3 sons; Robert W. husband of Barbara Geiger of Geigertown, PA, Mark J. husband of Kelen Geiger of Rindge, NH, Thomas P., husband of Alice Geiger of Quakertown, PA; 1 daughter: Rebecca G. Johnson, wife of Charles of Birdsboro, PA; 1 brother: James P. Keim, husband of Cathy, of Jacksonville, FL; and sister-in-law: Martha Delan of Overland Park, KS. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren Sam Geiger, Lauren (Geiger) Martin, Alex Geiger, James Johnson; and 3 great grandchildren.

Betty was predeceased one sister, Grace (Keim) Klopp.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1337 Geigertown Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508. There will be a viewing at the church an hour before the service from 10:00am-11:00am. Interment will be held in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery.
