Gladys (Shirey) Hartman, 79, of Elverson, PA passed away on May 20, 2018 at Columbia Cottage in Wyomissing, PA.
Born in Kulptown, PA, she was raised by her grandparents, the late David and Alice (Ruppert) Shirey. She was married to James J. Hartman.
Gladys worked in the cafeteria for the Twin Valley School District for many years. Gladys was known as “the cake lady,” she always enjoyed decorating cakes. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Geigertown, PA and she was past president of the American Legion, Colonel Jacob Morgan Post 537.
She is survived by 2 sons: James C. Hartman, partner of Robin O’Neil of Birdsboro, PA, John A. Hartman, husband of Michelle of Birdsboro, PA; 1 daughter: Alice G. Fabian, wife of Ronald of Sellersville, PA; 1 half-brother: David Shirey of Geigertown, PA; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A viewing will be held on Friday, an hour before the service at the funeral home from 10:00AM – 11:00AM
The interment will be held in Elverson Methodist Cemetery.
