ALBERT NICHOLAS “POP-POP” SUGLIA

ALBERT NICHOLAS “POP-POP” SUGLIA, age 85, of Birdsboro, PA went Home to be with our Lord on April 24, 2018 in the Reading Hospital. Albert was born 2/13/1933 in Reading, PA to the late Paul and Margaret Suglia.
He was the loving husband of Catherine (Janet) nee Wolf whom he shared 62 years of marriage. They were married on October 1, 1955.
Albert was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amityville, PA.
He was President of Skyline Cruisers of Eastern PA. He was also the past President of the Amity Athletic Club where he coached football, baseball and basketball.
Albert graduated from Reading High School in 1953 and, shortly after, was drafted into the US Army. He did his basic training at Fort Indiantown Gap and served 18 months in Korea during the Korean War. Albert was a staff Sargent in the 2nd Infantry Division. After his military service, he worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co, retiring after 26 years. In addition, Albert worked at the Limerick Power Plant, Snow King, and W.E. Fasnacht Electrical Contractors.
Albert had a passion for cars, especially his 37 Ford street rod. He enjoyed attending Skyline Cruiser functions with all his street rod friends. Albert was proud to be one of Kenny Brightbill’s mechanics helping to lead the #19 “Haul Ass” to many victories at the Reading Fairgrounds.
Albert’s favorite pastimes were watching Nascar races (Kyle Busch was his favorite driver), and the Philadelphia Eagles, thankfully being with us long enough to see them win the Super Bowl this year.
Albert enjoyed “tinkering” with everything. There was nothing that he couldn’t fix – except his son!
Albert was known for his craving of peanut butter and jelly, his coffee and the need for Ketchup on almost everything.
There was nothing Albert loved more than his family.
He will be sadly missed by his children:
Sharen L. (the Smart One), wife of Scott Frasso, Brighton, MI
Donna L. (the Pain In The Ass Forgotten Middle Child), wife of Dennis E Hess, Boyertown, PA
